This is a series created and edited by Michael Bracken and published by Down & Out Books. Each tale is set in Dallas, and centered around a chop shop owned by Huey.
My own contribution to this series is Loose Change From a Mini Cooper (all of the names have a specific vehicle in the title). It is the tenth episode.
In it, Benny Lenard figured keeping a few things from the glove box of the Mini Cooper he stole for Huey’s shop was no big deal. When one item in particular turns out to be extremely lucrative, his unexpected good fortune swiftly turns into ferocious pursuit from all sides. Benny has to find a way to turn his lucky find into cash and avoid the wrath of those who want what he found. For Benny, this heist may be his last… one way or another.
“Loose Change From a Mini Cooper” will eventual re-appear in my yet-untitled sixth short story collection sometime in 2026.
